Bruker S2 RANGER with XFLASH™
Why XRF?
- Use for chemical stratigraphy to minimize target window while drilling.
- Use in conjunction with XRD data to provide an even more accurate analysis when minute changes in stratigraphy may effect vital decisions.
- To optimize target windows in reservoirs with weak gamma profiles.

Utilizing the Bruker S2 Ranger with XFLASH™, Quality Hydrocarbon & Geological Services can provide our clients with qualitative and quantitative bulk elemental analysis in a timely manner that competes with onsite analysis while maintaining lab quality data. The XFLASH® detector provides high signal stability and excellent resolution which allows us to analyze elements at very low concentrations and achieve greater precision overall from the higher intensity. The integrated EQUA ALL© soGware provides excellent semi-quantitative analysis using the standardless application for unknown samples. SPECTRA EDX© soGware provides analytical solutions for qualitative, quantitative and standard less applications.
Analysis of these results allows us to provide our clients with solutions in important applications. Bulk elemental analysis can be used for chemical stratigraphy to minimize the target window while drilling, to optimize target windows in reservoirs with weak gamma profiles, and for regional reservoir mapping. Results can also be used to verify the accuracy of downhole gamma tools.
Quality Hydrocarbon & Geological Services also provides our clients with a combined service of X-Ray Diffraction. By combining these two technologies we can offer an even more accurate analysis of samples for when minute changes in stratigraphy may affect vital decisions. By providing these services we help our clients meet the needs of any reservoir they may encounter.
Quality Hydrocarbon & Geological Services offers extremely rapid turnaround times or end of well analysis of cuHngs at any specified interval to meet our client’s needs.
Bruker D2 Phaser with Lynxeye
Why XRD?
- Achieve a more accurate log than visual and chemical procedures can provide.
- Minimize costs of completion by locating zones with higher or lower briJleness ratios or total clays.
- Narrow target window with more accurate profiling of lithology.
- Use in conjunction with pyrolysis to provide a more accurate hydrocarbon profile.
Why Clay Speciation?
- Use in reservoirs with expandable clays to reduce costly failed frac stages and minimize risk of hole stability problems.

Quality Hydrocarbon & Geological Services has partnered with Fluid Inclusion Technologies to provide our clients with the latest in mass spectrometry analysis. The dq1000™ is the only mass spectrometer on the market specifically designed for mud logging services. It utilizes a quadrupole mass analyzer to provide the most accurate gas analysis in the industry and is capable of reading C1- C10 hydrocarbons, paraffins, aromatics, inorganics (H2, He, CO2, H2O, Ar, N2, O2), naphthenes, and sulfur bearing species, along with water soluble species including acetic acid, toluene, and benzene.
Analysis of these parameters allows us to provide our clients with solutions in a multitude of applications. With a wider and more accurate range of hydrocarbons than traditional gas chromatographs, we can prove more accurate delineation of petroleum type and quality, assisting in the location of dry gas, wet gas, and oil bearing zones. Using tested sets of ratios, we are able to discriminate and eliminate hydrocarbons introduced as mud additives, providing a more accurate hydrocarbon profile. BTEX profiling along with analysis of inorganics and water-soluble species assists in delineation of pay zone, location of fluid contacts, qualitative measurements of porosity and permeability, proximity to pay zones, qualitative water saturation, compartmentalization (including overpressured zones), and the locations of seals, fractures, and faults.
Analysis and control is conducted daily by both parties to ensure the most accurate data is provided to our clients. Remote viewing of real-time data is available and LAS reports are sent daily. A end of well report is provided to the clients within 2 weeks and we also offer daily analysis as an add-on service.

Why Mass Spectrometry?
- Reads C1-C10 hydrocarbons, paraffins, aromatics, inorganics (H2, He, CO2, H20, Ar, N2, O2), naphthenes and sulfur bearing species, along with water soluble species including acetic acid, toluene and benzene

Utilizing the Bruker D2 Phaser with Lynxeye Detector™, Quality Hydrocarbon & Geological Services can provide our clients with qualitative and quantitative bulk mineralogy in a timely manner that competes with onsite analysis while maintaining lab quality data. With award winning Diffract.Suite™ soGware we can insure that the most accurate phase identification possible will be provided to our clients including ratios for dolomite, chlorite, illite, calcite, pyrite, quartz, albite, clay, feldspar, silicates, aluminosilicates, carbonates, sulfides, apatite and more.
Analysis of these results allows us to provide our clients with solutions in vital applications. Quartz and clay content directly impact fracture potential, allowing our clients to beJer place their frac stages or even eliminate certain intervals entirely. Bulk mineralogy assists in determining reservoir quality and can be used to minimize the target window while drilling, an increasingly apparent requirement for maximizing the efficiency and production of wells.
Utilizing this technology Quality Hydrocarbon & Geological Services also provides our clients with add-on services for clay and quartz speciation. In some reservoirs, the total clay fraction isn’t sufficient for production and stability planning as the presence and quantity of expandable clay disproportionately affects decision making capabilities. Quartz speciation to determine diagenesis can also assist in the planning of completions programs. By providing these services we help our clients meet the needs of any reservoir they may encounter.
