Horizontal Mud log -

In June 2001, Quality Logging acquired the ability to plot hydrocarbon logs in horizontal wells.  This program utilizes  the same data as a normal hydrocarbon well log (i.e. Rate of Penetration, Total Gas, Gas Chromatograph, Percent Lithology, Porosity, etc.) but generates a spatial plot of Measured Depth versus True Vertical Depth combined with the mud log data.

The log is constructed and published to the internet as drilling proceeds at the same time as the regular log.  This log allows the geologist in the office to see the progress of the well and to evaluate possible changes to the drilling program.

This program does require the special viewer from Well Sight Systems to open the log.  After installation, you need only click once on the file name in the website to view the log.  In addition, you have access to all data (i.e. Prognosed Surveys, Drill Track Surveys, Rate of Penetration, Total Gas, Chromatograph, MWD Gamma Ray, Descriptions)  through the <Export> function under the File menu.  This allows the user to retrieve and plot the data in his or her own program(s) to track progress of the well and its relationship to nearby offset wells.

To download a copy of the reader, click on the hyperlink to the left, fill in the requested information and select the version 5.1a reader.  The program will download and install itself onto your computer.
